I was offered a job with Aramark as a delivery driver. Anybody work for them with some opinions?

Opinions like pay? more or less(I know it varies) and your own take on Aramark as an employee

thanks
I was offered a job with Aramark as a delivery driver. Anybody work for them with some opinions?
Hiya Hector,

My roomie works driving for ARAMARK Uniforms and he loves his job. Starting salary was kind of low but with incentives. It seems ARAMARK likes drivers that do well at increasing sales, but this depends on the position. The corporation is large and driving for them could mean so many things. Are you talking ARAMARK Food Services, Uniform Services, Facility Services, Vending Services ...well the list goes on and most of them have delivery routes.

The Uniform rep's opinion here is:

They will treat you well and if you shine for them, they will hook you up sooner or later, and the benefits are good. He says that if it turns out not to be what you want, you should stick it out for a year and then start applying with Snap-On Tools, MAC Tools or something like that. Keep your DMV record clear and ARAMARK could be a start to get something way better.

I spent a year in one of those exact trucks delivering sandwiches downtown San Francisco. I loved the freedom and the early shift gave me most of the day to do whatever. I totally blew it when I tapped the side of a phone booth and kept quiet about it. About a week later I was called into the office and that was the end of that.

Go for it !

GOOD LUCK!

LATER UPDATE: Just got turned on to the official ARAMARK Conduct Policy online. Check it here:http://media.corporate-ir.net/media_file...

Does anyone agree that tipping pizza delivery "for doing a good job" rationale is utter crap?

I accept tipping waiters in restaurants, because that has always customarily formed part of their wages.

But this business about tipping pizza delivery people, your priest for performing a marriage, etc.? WHAT CRAP!

Why should I tip a pizza delivery guy? If he doesn't deliver the pizza to me, then his company doesn't make money on the transaction. It's an essential function of the transaction, so why should I tip him?

Sure, he can deliver it last or mess up the pizza, but if he does then I don't order from that establishment again.

What's next, do we have to start tipping the guy at the burger joint register for delivering our food to us?

It's utter crap, this having to grease everybody's palm because they "did a good job". It's their JOBS, people. It's what they're SUPPOSED TO DO ANYWAY.
Does anyone agree that tipping pizza delivery "for doing a good job" rationale is utter crap?
I have recently stopped tipping food delivery people because they have started charging a delivery fee and that money goes to the driver. This includes both Pizza Hut, Dominoes, and Papa John's. Now this does not include the small mom and pop places, because most of them don't charge.
Reply:Another reason that I have stopped tipping as well is because when they show up to the door and you hand them an even amount of dollars they never have any change. Because of this I have started giving them the exact amount if at all possible. Report Abuse

Reply:You tip a delivery person because you are paying for the wear and tear on that person's vehicle. The fact of the matter is that delivery drivers rack up mileage very fast which equates to more oil changes, tire changes, and other general maintainance issues that arise from heavy vehicle useage. Dude is delivering Pizza in your hood Dude! In a beat up Yugo with 2 dollars worth of gas..trying hard to get up enough money to buy his own 5 dollar pizza...You cheapskate son of a gun..what hole did you crawl out from under...these folks could be giving up on life and strapping on a bomb to fry your handsome butt .you know what? they is trying their very best to make it in a world that you my friend take for granted. Why dont you just get yourself out there and try it yourself dude? dont wanna git yer butt shot? too drunk to go buy you some? so you wanna get a plissy about tipping? Dude let me tell you somethang....remember this...Tipping is NOT a city in china.you make my butt want chewing gum....Do us all a flavor and just make yer own dang pizza and LEAVE ME ALONE!
Reply:wow you tend to go on you must feel strongly about this. the reason we tip drivers, hairdressers, etc. is to cover their costs the outstanding hairdresser still gets paid that of the salon rate and the tip is the thank you for their carrying costs, booth rental, supplies. as for a pizza guy they have a lot of wear on their car and get paid so little it is expected because they do a hard job of zipping around town and hitting pot holes they don't see and getting yelled at by customers who waited long time etc. just suck it up man it is the cost of being nice if you don't want to tip them then get your butt in your own car and drive the 5 minutes to pick it up like I do.
Reply:I tip him because I am too lazy to go get it. Customs are not always based on good reasoning. Its just customarily expected that you tip him
Reply:By that rationale, you shouldn't tip waiters either, because the restaurant doesn't make money if the waiter doesn't bring you your food. (And most restaurants' insurance policies will not let you go to the kitchen and get it yourself.)

It is just part of our society that some people get tipped for doing their jobs. They are also paid a smaller hourly wage and are taxed on their tips, thus forcing them to rely on them. (It is legal for to pay people less than minimum wage if they have a job that earns tips.) I see tipping people as paying them the money that it is assumed that they were paid anyway, and it's just good manners.

You don't have to agree with it, and you don't have to tip. But one of the great things about this country is you don't have to engage in acts of civility and politeness if you don't want to, so you don't have to cover your mouth when you sneeze near other people, or say "Excuse me" when you bump into them, either.
Reply:Well, tipping a priest for preforming a marriage is definitely The right thing to do as they do not make TONS of money and they are doing a service for you.

Tipping pizza drivers is also the right thing to do as they do count on this money to pay their bills, etc. Everyone has to make a living and if you have ever worked in the service industry, which I assume you have not, you would understand!
Reply:I tip cause the poor driver had to risk his/her life on the highway to get to my house. And it is also a nice jesture. Helping someone out by giving them a few dollars.
Reply:Well, if it bothers you THAT badly, then don't tip or just go pick it up yourself. Why cry about it? I always tip well, whether it is the delivery person or a waiter/waitress. It is all a matter of opinion.. what you think they deserve. Considering you have worked in the business, you should be a little more sympathetic. I think you just need a reality check... but like I said, if you don't want to do it, then don't do it. There is no gun to your head for god sake!
Reply:I love this question. Yes, you should tip, always, service workers. Since in some states, service workers are paid less than minimum wage because it's assumed tips will make up the difference. And the IRS will tax them on their earnings, whether you tip them or not. When your pastor marries you, he is doing extra work. He's not getting rich with his Sunday sermon, counseling church members, visiting them in the hospital. When he takes the extra time to accomodate your request, taking even more time away from his own family, you don't think he deserves an honorarium. It's not required, but it's certainly earned. It's all about respect . I'm not sure that's something you could ever understand.
Reply:Pizza delivery guys don't make that much per hour, if they use their own car they have wear and tear on their car. The price of gas is high, and again if they use their own car they do not get reimbursed for gas. It is also a dangerous job especially if they deliver in a larger metropolitan area. Last year, there were three pizza delivery guys who 2 were shot and killed and one stabbed and killed as well as robbed. It was so premeditated, the drivers, never had a chance since the killers ordered pizza's and just waited to kill them. A guy I work with also works at night delivering pizza's, he's trying to supplement his income so his family can pay their bills and keep a roof over their heads. I wouldn't deliver pizza's, a waitress makes more and is safe!
Reply:ITS JUST BEING POLITE
Reply:I HAVE AN IDEA!!!

Don't consider it a tip! Change your perspective on the idea, consider the additional $1 or $2 extra, as a lazy tax, for you could have driven in your car, and got the pizza yourself, but you had this person bring it to you, so for not spending your own fuel and not adding wear and tear on your car, you pay extra...

All about perspective's!
Reply:then dont tip him, and the next time he delivers hes gonna mess up your pizza...no tip..no problem..
Reply:I'd have to disagree. They get such a low wage as it is and that extra expense for fuel and the time it takes driving warrants a tip. For me, it's all about common courtesy.

Yes, it's already their job to begin with. But do you realize that it can't be easy driving from place to place, figuring out streets, navigating traffic, etc? They ARE doing a good job when despite every other person they deliver to, they are STILL doing their best to deliver a quality, hot pizza to your doorstep in a reasonable amount of time.

Get a job where much of your income depends on tips. Then tell me people don't deserve it. You apparently are incredibly ungrateful and rude.

EDIT

You are one bitter, angry person. I feel sorry for you, really I do. Or should I take pity on your nasty self instead? Seek a therapist. It's obvious why you got out of the service industry. No one could take your shitty attitude and it forced you to quit. Good riddance to rubbish.
Reply:The price I pay includes the cost of materials, a cut of the pizza boys wages, transportation costs etc. So why tip?

The pizza probably only cost $2 in ingrediants anyway, just think how much you're bing ripped off.
Reply:IT's utter crap! I don't understand why they should be tipped if they get paid to do it?
Reply:Ha, these days even Starbucks people want a tip for making you a coffee, I see those cups labeled "for tips" set up very cleverly right in front of the customer all the time.
Reply:I was never crazy about tipping when it comes to doing your job. (Only if you go over and beyond) Go figure

Delivery drivers job and restaurant crew job/cashier job in restaurant?

Delivery drivers job and restaurant crew job/cashier job in restaurant?
Courier jobs are going to pay the best and have a very nice set of benefits. These places are usually pretty tough to actually get into, and there might be a long waiting list.

Delivery driver would be my choice out of the three types. It allows you to roll around in your vehicle, gas is reimbursed, and you can get plenty of tips to get through the months. The downside to this I suppose is that the money you earn won't be enough to cover the extreme mileage you put on your vehicle, and it would be wise to set aside a portion of your income or tips made to fund any sort of mechanical failure or scheduled maintenance you might need.

Pizza delivery vs bartending which job?

I dont own a car, i am looking for a summer job, which do you recommend, pizza delivery or bartending ? I would have to buy a car for pizza delivery, but then again, i would have to pay for bartending courses, about 500$.

Thank you in advance.
Pizza delivery vs bartending which job?
If you are not interested in running about delivering pizzas then i think you take bartending its course is much cheaper than a car. But a car has its own utilities. If you are serious on bartending i suggest you take the course so that your drinks don't annoy customers
Reply:Go with Bartending. You will not regret it. I used to work with this lady who did bartending and she made really good tips, go for it :)

Going for job interview today for driving job, delivery/collection driver.?

what good reasons can i say why i want the job and questions to ask?
Going for job interview today for driving job, delivery/collection driver.?
Why you want the job?

You enjoy being out on the road in all kinds of weather

Not an 'indoor' type of person

Like meeting people from all sorts of life

Like driving

Questions to ask:

What delivery area are you covering?

On an average day, how many drop-offs/collections?

Any opportunities for overtime?

Do you get a uniform?

Do you have to return to depot after last delivery/collection?

What's the earliest start-time likely to be?

What back-up do they provide if there was a problem with the van, ie are they with a national 'rescue' company to come and collect you?

The very best of luck today - give it your best shot.

Good luck
Reply:i dont know enough about you to suggest things to say but if you react to their questions and be inquisitive about the job, youll do well
Reply:You like working on your own initiative and the responsibility that brings with it,you like being out and about and not stuck in the same place, Rates of pay, overtime, pension, job prospects.
Reply:The two main factors to consider are:

"Why do I want this job?"

e.g. I enjoy driving, I enjoy meeting different people etc

and

"Why would I be good at it?"

I am a competent driver (clean licence?), I enjoy meeting different people, I am patient and courteous, I am able to work on my own using my own initiative, I have a lot of patience (Ideally back these claims up with reference to previous work/situations).

Questions to ask.... you don't have to ask any if you don't feel the need to, so don't force yourself. One option is to ask the panel/interviewer which aspect of their business they consider to be strongest, and which area they feel most needs to be developed. (It's basically throwing the strength/weaknesses question back at them, but showing you have an interest in the business too.)

Concentrate on the above questions and you should be OK.

Good luck!
Reply:enjoy driving, know the area? enjoy working on your own. ask about hours if you get help loading/unloading is a taccagraph fitted(mileage counter)overtime available? rate of pay, is there a probation period

Was it pretty safe? like for those of you who delivered in the daytime, and did anybody invite you into the house while they were getting the money? what did you say? etc and did you have any bad experiences?

Husband lost job and I'm pregnant is the Insurance co. required to cover until delivery?

I'm trying to apply for state insurance at the moment, but lots of people I talk to are telling me that since the Insurance Company covered me before they can't cancel while I'm still pregnant. (I'm due in 7 weeks) or is that what the consider the Cobra plan. Which they want us to pay $1300 a month for Cobra. I'm confused, should they still cover me w/out Cobra or not. Anyone with knowledge in this area, I'd appreciate any input.
Husband lost job and I'm pregnant is the Insurance co. required to cover until delivery?
Insurance companies HATES their customers! If their is any type of loophole they can find to get out of paying you, they will!

If you think that's just my opinion, just as the people who lived around New Orleans!
Reply:There is no requirement for the Insurance Company to cover you because you are pregnant. Your husband's employer has an obligation to offer you continuation of coverage. You will not be covered unless you elect continuation.

At this point, being due in 7 weeks, I don't think you have many options for purchasing coverage, except COBRA, or State Continuation. COBRA coverage is simply the same coverage that your husband currently has, but instead of his former employer paying a portion of the premium, he would be responsible for all of it plus 2% allowed by law for administrative expenses on the part of the employer. While individual insurance may be a bit less expensive, it may not cover maternity, however, if it does cover maternity, with evidence of prior coverage within the last 63 days, it cannot be considered a "pre-existing condition."

If you cannot afford the $1300 per month premuium, especially considering that your husband has just lot his job, you can check with your local Social Services Office to see what programs you may be eligible for that will cover you and your family, including the delivery of your child. In CT, we have the HUSKY program. I believe every state has similar programs to provide health care to families, especially children, and pregnant women who do not have insurance.

Look at all options before making a decision, but don't wait too long. You have a defined period of time to elect continuation of coverage.

Good luck to you and your family.
Reply:i think you have to pay for the cobra for you to be covered. they will reimburse you for medical expenses since your coverage ended. the insurance should only last til the end of the month that your husband left the company. pay the cobra it is cheaper than no insurance and im sure you dont want to deliver at a county hospital.
Reply:it all depends on your policy, you should read it very carefully, if you have supplemental insurance you should be fine.. sorry to hear of your troubles.. cobra is typically a short term inbetween company (jobs) insurance program.. but who can pay 1300 without a job..COBRA contains provisions giving certain former employees, retirees, spouses and dependent children the right to temporary continuation of health coverage at group rates. This coverage, however, is only available in specific instances. Group health coverage for COBRA participants is usually more expensive than health coverage for active employees, since usually the employer formerly paid a part of the premium. It is ordinarily less expensive, though, than individual health coverage.

The law generally covers group health plans maintained by employers with 20 or more employees in the prior year. It applies to plans in the private sector and those sponsored by state and local governments.{2} The law does not, however, apply to plans sponsored by the Federal government and certain church- related organizations.

Group health plans sponsored by private sector employers generally are welfare benefit plans governed by ERISA and subject to its requirements for reporting and disclosure, fiduciary standards and enforcement. ERISA neither establishes minimum standards or benefit eligibility for welfare plans nor mandates the type or level of benefits offered to plan participants. It does, though, require that these plans have rules outlining how workers become entitled to benefits.

Under COBRA, a group health plan ordinarily is defined as a plan that provides medical benefits for the employer's own employees and their dependents through insurance or otherwise (such as a trust, health maintenance organization, self-funded pay-as-you-go basis, reimbursement or combination of these). Medical benefits provided under the terms of the plan and available to COBRA beneficiaries may include:

Inpatient and outpatient hospital care

Physician care

Surgery and other major medical benefits

Prescription drugs

Any other medical benefits, such as dental and vision care

hope this helps, and good luck!! Sam.
Reply:I believe that if you don't accept the COBRA coverage, you're no longer covered. $1300 a month seems a little high - it's usually just a little over what you'd pay as an employee (unless the employer was picking up all of the cost, in which case, you'd be paying a little more than the employer was.)

If you were already in the hospital and your insurance canceled midway thru your stay, then the insurance would cover you under what's called Continuity of Care, but I don't beleive that applies here.
Reply:Look Take it from a mother that has been on the state insurance since I had kids, The states coverage is way way better. If that was your only income you cannot pay that save your money. They State ask you a lot of personal questions about your income and bank info and I never supply my personal info with them because the help you less, So hurry and apply for emgency assitance and they will help your only for temporray reason. Since your husband is not working its better to have it covered by the state because they pay for every thing and even if you had a job like me if you cannot afford the insurance you can still get it from the state with a sliding fee!

In your sistutation the State Medical is not a hassel and Stay on them to help you in your sistution, and even after the baby is born the will help with the other cost of labor and after birth, Don't let it stress you because thats what the state is for to Help OUT!
Reply:From what I understand about insurances, usually after a person is terminated from their employer, the insurance usually cancels within 30 days. Then they will send you some info about the COBRA plan which is outrageaous. Your best bet is to go apply for help with the state like you said, they will pay for the remander of your pregnany, dont stress it will work out. But the insurance companies dont have to cover you after 30 days from termination of employment. Early Congrats on the new baby.
Reply:First, you are totally confused about the cost of Cobra insurance. Call the employer for an amount. Additionally, you will get an offer to continue carrying it and they will tell you the monthly charge. Yes, if you don't pay they will cancel you. There isn't anything free.
Reply:No, they are required to cover until the premium stops getting paid - if you guys elect to take COBRA coverage, and pay it every month on time, it will continue. If you don't, the coverage lapses.

There's no grace period with COBRA. So I'd be sure to pay at least the next two months.

I'm a HGV driver doing shop deliveries but am thinking of changing jobs 4 container work.Is this a good move?

I have a few mates who also are hgv drivers but none of us have done container work before.Ive heard lots of stories of waiting round for hours on end to get tipped or loaded is this the case? Also ive not done nights away yet my mates do and love it.Would you have to do nights out on container work?I have had my licence for over 10 years but have only done night trunk work or shop work.Im getting fed up of driving day cab motors or sharing units with every other driver in the building.I know we are all busy but any answers are appreciated.
I'm a HGV driver doing shop deliveries but am thinking of changing jobs 4 container work.Is this a good move?
Most container drivers work their hind-sides off. An owner operator in south Florida, according to what he said on the XM radio call in trucking advice show, said that he was looking to go into another facet of the trucking industry because he wanted to make a better living financially for the amount of time and effort he has to put in.

However the final decision is still up to your own desires and what your family will put up with. also, most container work is short haul and would probably be a day-cab power unit. Also, be advised that the DOT loves the containers, since most of the chassis's are not the best and they are usually VERY heavy.
Reply:I did container for three years - the biggest delays are at the ports or 'empty yards' waiting to pick up or drop off the boxes. It's not unusual to get held up for 6 hours at somewhere like Felixstowe, for example, simply waiting for a straddle carrier to get your container. And don't even mention the phrase, "Your container is being checked by customs before release"!

Tipping loaded containers is usually pretty quick, 'cos the customer wants the freight. Getting loaded can be quick (e.g. by forklift) or damn slow if it's loaded by hand. It's all swings and roundabouts - you can always get a kip or watch TV.

Most container work means nights away, which is a whole other game. Some lorry parks and truck-stops are OK (assuming your driving time means you can actually get to one and you're not stuck in a lay-by for the night...) some are dire. Motorway service stations are grossly overpriced and one shower facility for 50 truck drivers means they aren't always the cleanest places!

To be honest, after 15 years on the road, I don't miss it (I lost my H.G.V. a couple of years ago, on medical grounds). But I've got friends who still haul freight the length and breadth of this country, and would never do anything else because they love the job.
Reply:god yes very good move, one pick up, one stop, one drop, now ya can't beat that, I did it yes there is a lot of hanging around but your not driving and getting paid for it, plus if you don't mind some hand relief theres a few drivers that will do the honers, and hey don't knock it till ya tried it I Did for years, and didn't know what I was missing.
Reply:container work is ok, but yes there is a lot of waiting around but one thing ypu don't have to get in the back to help unload, take a good book or a portable telly with you , you will need them.
Reply:Hi M8,

I did roping ans sheeting for sa while, ni hated it andv then went on the tilts, I forgot to mention I did container work as well, all three can have delays vtipping and loading but for me the container work was the easiest, no roping and sheeting on a cold wet or freezing night, clambering over the load to set ur sheet up right, half hour later u had to stop check ur loads settled down and roped r tight and sheet is not flapping about, then u have the prob of load shifts, like timber or what i got, a forty fooiter loades with dead fish just sling on pallets at RN yard in hattham im Kent, the fish were salvaged off a fishing boat off Kent coast back in early 80's There was no one to help me get it sheeted and roped. If I tried to put the sheet on rhe fish i would lose my load b4 i ever got the chance to get sheet on, then even if u did u couldnt tie it down. i got on the blwer to the haulage firm i was contracted to, i told bthem that theres no wat im going up top as its bloody dangerous, anyway i said this job should vhave a 40ft container, it turne4d out wrong trailer was sent, so i was off home after that. Tilts bin uk can be as hard as roping and sheeting, on the continent everywhere I went bu drove up to loading bay bsome guy comes along checkedf my paprtwork and the custom seal number, broke the sea; and I would drop back down then reverse onto bay, the staff would open up my tilt and close it up as much as possible leaving me to lift back oasrd up and feed wire thru the rings on tilt.

But overall containerwork was easy,

I would do container work any day, but there is betteR ONE thaqts the fridge trucks, the food on board is perrishanle so I noticed those guys getting priority both in uk and abroad.

Good luck m8, containers or fridges if i was back driving.

What are the Pros and Cons of a newspaper delivery job?

I was just hired to work as a newspaper deliverer, and I have never done it before. People have given me mixed messages about the job, such as 1) the money is good, 2) the job sucks, 3) the money is worth it for the time, 4) you will be exhausted, etc.

I need to know the truth. What are the best things about newspaper delivery, and the worst things about it?

I will be delivering the daily paper (including the Sunday paper) and i know that I have to stuff and bag the papers, and I will be doing home delivery and apartment delivery.

Thanks in advance!
What are the Pros and Cons of a newspaper delivery job?
Pro: You will be making money.

Con: It won't be fun delivering in bad weather. If you drive, paying for gas will cut into your profits. Dogs might bite you.

Same as other comments you listed above too.
Reply:and don't forget to find out who get you a back up in case you get sick (I used to have to deliver my sons route when he was sick unless he could find a friend who knew the route and then he had to pay them too) And on that same note - it is 6 days per week so hard to take a weekend vacation with your friends or summer time off
Reply:I had a paper route when I was 12. I was paid so little that it wasn't even funny (WAY below minimum wage), but I didn't realize it at the time and there were no other jobs I could get. Now I make more in one hour than I used to make in two weeks of paper delivery. Plus it is hard to find substitutes and people complain about not getting a paper when they really did get it and stuff like that. One perk is that some people will give you money or food at Christmas. It will probably build your work ethic and make you appreciate money more in the future. It will give you work experience to help you get your next job. If you buy a bicycle or pair of shoes or anything like that, you can write it off your taxes as a business expense. Taxes might get tricky because when I did it, they said I was an independent contractor (which I really shouldn't have been legally) so they wouldn't have to pay their half of the medicare/social security tax.

also,

Learning to drive a moped... can i get a job as a pizza delivery man?
Legally yes you can get a job as a pizza delivery guy at 17.

There's a place not 10 mins from me hiring anybody with a moped right now regardless of age.

The problem you might have is getting bike insurance for the job. You need to tell your insurance company that you will be using the bike for work and that will put your premiums right up.

You could be looking at around æ‹¢600 a year for the insurance, maybe more.

To answer your other questions...

Learning to ride a moped can take anything from a few days to a couple of months. It depends on your abilities. I would get as much experience as possible on the road though before I went and got a job delivering pizzas on a moped.

A moped can cost anything from a couple of hundred quid to around a 1000. For work purposes you want to spend as much as you can afford because you want something reliable that aint gonna break down every 5 minutes.

Moped tax is currently æ‹¢15 a year and it costs around æ‹¢25 a year for the MOT unless your bike is brand new, then you don't need an MOT for 3 years.

Best choice i ever made was visiting here www.czone.info/careerzone
Reply:Okay this is what i did and i got the job at 11 my friend's older sister was the paper carrier and she needed to find somebody to deliver and take over so i said i would. now considering you may not know somebody that is quitting just call a local newspaper and ask if there are any route opportunities. being a paper carrier sucks though if you live where its winter. Also waking up early sunday and saturday sucks. i did it for a year and a half and than i got a baby sitting job i'm currently working for a video game company ran by my friends older cousin and on the side i may end up working for his dad at a pizza parlor. mainly my jobs came from connections, but try the newspaper that's your best bet.

Have you tried contacting Metro or AM New York? I've always seen them with ads looking for more people handing them out. It's free paper, but you have to get up early for handing them out.

Is pizza delivery a good job?

How bad is it on your car? Do you make pretty good money?
Is pizza delivery a good job?
Not according to insurance agents, they hate them because they're high risk drivers (always hurrying and are more prone to accidents and tickets) and usually cancel you if they find out you're a pizza delivery person. I worked for State Farm and that's a dirty word to them, pizza delivery driver. I know one guy came in to drop off his monthly insurance payment and had the pizza delivery thing on top of his car and he was cancelled fast. Then there's getting robbed because you're carrying money, and are alone on most of your deliveries so you're a target. And if you're late or the pizza isn't right, you get yelled at alot. So my answer is no, its not a good job. Why would anyone want to do it? :)
Reply:CB is right.

Not to mention that you'll wreak the car's interior and have it smell of grease and cheese. If your in a small "nice" town and have no other options go for it. It should be safe enough. But if your in a larger area then skip this job and save your gas money and the mileage on your car aswell.
Reply:I delivered pizza for about 8 months, I drove a 91 honda civic, great on gas. When the prices were low I made lots of money. I live in a smaller town. I worked for pizza pizza and got paid a good base pay and I would work 20 hours a week sometimes (only 2 days) Friday 10h Saturday 10h and at the end of Saturday night I would have average $400 cash in my pocket. Not bad at all if your younger. You don't have to speed like CRAZY (I never really did and never had any late pizzas). Most of the time the pizza is late because of the cooks error thus the store paying for it not you which most people do not know. All in all I think it is a great job! Best job I ever had so far. Its not to bad on your car just don't beat your car that's all
Reply:Doubt you make good money at all. I mean, youll make what, $2 bucks or so in tip on a delivery. Since you're using your own car and gas, you'll get tipped enough to cover gas and wear and tear, with no real profit. Not to mention that if the cooks mess up the order, its your fault, if they take too long making the pizza or theres traffic, you probably get less of a tip. Not to mention you might get shot.
Reply:No, it is not a good job. It cannot be worth the extra wear and tear on your car. Money schmoney. What will you make, twenty bucks in tips a night?
Reply:Can't you aspire to more that a pizza guy? I understand time's are hard, but even Spiderman got fired from being a delivery dude.
Reply:not a good job, but at least its a job for the troubled times as of right now. So its better than nothing. More companies and businesses are firing and laying off people than hiring.
Reply:/* based on what ive heard, its not. you have to pay your own gas and not payed well, to my knowledge *\
Reply:Well for a starting off job its okay money, but i wouldn't say it was a "great" full time job

If i applied for a delivery job and got to the point where she calls up about my driving record am i hired?

i applied for a delivery job and went to my interview and it went well. all that was left was to verify my driving record. she said they will get the result on monday. does that mean i have the job?and do they make a big deal about tint/lane violations?cause i have one speeding, a tint, and a lane violtaion.
If i applied for a delivery job and got to the point where she calls up about my driving record am i hired?
She is waiting to get your DMV report. That will tell her if you have the potential to be a good employee. If your violations were some time ago she may ask about what you have done to improve your driving. Each employer decides what is ok. I wish you well. You don't have the job until she sees what is on the report.
Reply:Well you may have the job all they care about is their delivery car and if you will return it so unless u have Road rage and Grand theft auto on your record you should be fine and also they pay attention to car crashes and stuff
Reply:If they are doing a background check, then they are probably considering you for employment. They would not be going to the bother if they were not thinking about hiring you. As for what they consider to be good and bad, that is dependent on them. Hard to say.
Reply:If you don't have a clean driving record record in the time frame required to get the job, they won't hire you. Your speeding ticket and lane violations are probably too soon for there time frame. So if one of the requirements is to have a clean driving record for the past two or even a year you would no longer be considered for the job. This company can't risk hiring anyone w/moving violations as this is a driving job. So, I'm sorry either they will call you and tell you they can no longer consider you, send you a rejection letter, or you just won't hear from them. I would suggest not trying to get any driving jobs until your record clears up, they won't care what your reasons are, if you have violations on your record, that's all they need.

Good luck in your job search!

Newspaper Delivery Job?

Ok, well, I had the offer of doing this, and that's pretty cool (((i'm working part-time, auto tech (hobby) and live with my parents...going to go back 2 school for landscaping, finished my auto tech training...so i'm not really looking to make a lot till I start my career (200/wk is fine by me, plus my other job))). SO anywho, anyone who has done this before, can you tell me your experiences with the job? Did you like it, hate it, the good, the bad, what exactly you have to do...? Btw, i'm referring to the newspaper deliveries you make via driving. Thanks a million!
Newspaper Delivery Job?
my father had that job when he first came up to north america, he said that he had to wake up about 3:30am then started delivering around 4:30am and by 6 he was done. so i guess it may be kinda demanding of your time.
Reply:Any job is a good job to get you through school!
Reply:I am currently a newspaper delivery person. I have to say I love the job. The hours are awesome and the pay is incredible. I work from 1 in the morning to 5 in the morning, I make almost 600 per week. For less than 40 hours per week thats pretty good pay.

However, there are downsides to everything. For instance, I work 7 days per week, and put lots of miles on my vehicle. I have not had a day off in almost 2 years, and have had to have my vehicle worked on several times.

Over all I would encourage anyone that has the opportunity to perform this job to go for it. You will have at least 18 to 20 hours of everyday to with as you please.
Reply:well...

1) you have to wake up extra early

2) the pay is not so good

3) you have to adjust to driving and throwing something out the window, and you have to throw them on both sides of the street, unless you want to drive through the same street twice.

let's just say, it's like a mailman on wheels...

Newspaper delivery job....?

my daughter wants to get a newspaper delivery route, but when we called the newspaper company, they said they only wanted drivers. We live in aliso viejo, california 92656. do you have any ideas how to get her a route?
Newspaper delivery job....?
i had a route when i was younger that was considered to be a drivers route, was alot of walking but luckily i lived near by and was willing to do the hour of walking every morning.

that was over 10 yrs ago and at that time the newspaper companies were in the process of switching over to adult only or driver only routes.

but in general now - they want someone more responsible thats a good part of the reason they are assigning drivers only routes.

still you should call for yourself and request a small nearby route- they will be more likely to give the info about it to you if you are saying you will be completeing the route on your own.

If they can offer something reasonable for your daughter - just take the route as your own and have your daughter do it (maybe with a little help such as a ride here and there from you) she can keep up with it and be as responsible as they desire.

Labor and Delivery Nurses: Do you like your job?

I have thought I would like to become a nurse and work in Labor and Delivery- do you like your job? What other departments are most fun/interesting/fulfilling????
Labor and Delivery Nurses: Do you like your job?
I positively love working as a L%26amp;D nurse. I just was not cut out to be a "sick, old people" nurse, lol. I worked in cardiac step-down for awhile, and hated every minute of it.

I love working with the families. It's generally a happy, exciting time. I love that I only usually have one patient to care for, so I can devote all my attention to them and make them feel well attended to and cared for. Birth is a scary time for many women, and it's a good feeling to be able to be there to answer their questions, ease some of their worries and stress, etc.

I work in a hospital connected to one of the best NICU / Childrens Hospitals in the country, so we get a lot of high-risk pregnancies, we get more than the average number of multiple births, stillbirths, babies with congential problems, etc, so I see more bad outcomes than other L%26amp;D nurses might see. It's very emotionally challenging at times, but I feel very strongly that working with these families is so important, and as sad as it can be, I know my work is important, especially to these families. I also find these cases to be very spiritually moving. There is no greater honor than to be in the room when a life enters the world and leaves it behind within a matter of moments, to be a part of that process. I cry with my patients. I sit in bed with them sometimes and hold them if they need me to. I do whatever I need to help them get through it.

Working in any nursing position has it's ups and downs, and all nursing jobs have some degree of stress. But you learn to manage it. You focus on the positive outcomes.

Pizza Delivery Job?

Has anybody delivered pizzas? Would you recommend it?
Pizza Delivery Job?
It's okay, it depends on where you live. People are scrooges when it comes to tipping. They don't care that you got stuck in traffic to get them THEIR food because they just weren't up to taking a trip into town. Then they complain if their food is cold, or make you come all the way back because they didn't get pizza sauce for their bread sticks and their kids won't eat ranch, and they blame you even though it's the people in the restaurant that are suppose to have all of those things taken care of so that it's all ready for you when you get back so you can just grab them and go.They make you drive those delivery geos in the rain, hail, sleet and snow, and then tip you 50 cents (if you're lucky) I'd rather be a waitress.

I don't know, I preferred working in the restaurant, opposed to outside of it, but it's a matter of opinion.
Reply:It's a good job if you're looking for supplemental income, but because one week you could make 250 bucks for working five days and the next week you could make 100 - it's not a very good job to have as your base income unless you're someone who doesn't have to have a steady income every week or unless like I said it's not your main source of income.

I work in a pizza place and all of our drivers either deliver pizzas as their second job, to supplement retirement funds or just to make extra money while they are in college.

All restaurants will vary as far as the pay - some pay an hourly rate, some charge delivery fees which you get to keep, some will even provide you with a vehicle for deliveries and pay your gas mileage or some will pay you for gas if you're using your own vehicle. But every restaurant will let you keep all of your tips.

If you have a decent vehicle, don't mind lots of driving in all sorts of weather conditions and can handle getting stiffed by customers at least once a day and think that you can handle the occasional cranky customer then it can be a decent job.

Another bonus - it is nice to have cash every day(just make sure you don't blow it all!).

Newspaper delivery job on resume.?

I'm 14 and I'd like to apply for a job and every little bit of work and volunteer experience helps.

I did a newspaper delivery job when I was 9 and I'd like to write that on my resume. But I'm not sure how to write it without sounding silly like. "newspaper delivery girl".

I have no idea what the actual name of that job is. Any idea?

The only thing I can think of, in the countries for which I have been, the correct name of the position always came out to be a newspaper courier. Or as you stated, a newspaper delivery person. Sorry I can't offer more. But that is all I have every heard.

Domino's delivery job in uk?

I have a two questions

How old do you have to be to get a job there delivering pizzas ?

Do you get free car insurance ?
Domino's delivery job in uk?
You won't get free car insurance and be VERY careful about just getting business use on your current car insurance as you must declare that your occupation is now a pizza delivery driver. Many companies will not quote for that occupation for business use.

if in doubt check with the insurance company and get a reference - or see an insurance broker.
Reply:1/ YOU must be old enough to drive.

2/ no, but if you are using your own car, then check your insurance, as you may not be covered for using it to deliver items, as in for business use.
Reply:Business insurance is not usually that much more expensive - mine was æ‹¢16 for the year based on third party fire %26amp; theft at æ‹¢300p.a.

I heard you get free pizzas, in which case that must surely make up for paying for the insurance!
Reply:you have to be old enough to drive in the country you want to work in.. and you have to be old enough to work

in england they deliver pizzas on a bike and the driver doesnt get their own bike to drive to and from work.. if you want transport then you will have to buy your own car.. so no YOU DONT get insurance

Newspaper Delivery Job?
I did this for almost 2 years. DO NOT DO IT!!!!!!!!!!! You will use your own car, own gas, and work 365 days a year. Get up at 2am and go to bed at 6am. Sometimes the papers are late, which means rude customers. I did not have to actually collect the money from the customers, but sometimes they wait outside for you just to gripe. And, then there are people who want their paper delivered in a certain spot in their yard. Or want it brought to the door. I think some people would ask me to bring it in and read if for them if that was possible. LOL! Seriously it is yucky!!! The pay is good, but keep in mind you will pay for gas, tires, brakes, oil changes, and anything else that is just normal wear and tear on a car. You will have lots of flats at 2am. It's not fun. Please for your own sake, DON'T DO IT!!! I can't stress that enough. Plus, working Christmas, Thanksgiving, and every other holiday is awful. Also, remember the cold weather and mosquitos. Your window will be down nearly all the route. Good Luck!
Reply:If you'd like to know all about the job, including what they don't tell you and the good, the bad and the ugly, check out www.chelirious.com. There's a daily column called "The Route" which chronicles the day-in, day-out activities of a newspaper delivery carrier.
Reply:For 20 years I was a Newspaper Delivery Driver. Not the kind your looking into but the guy who bought the papers to the guys who do what you want to do.

Here's the down low. It's an okay buck if you can put up with a few potential problems:

1. It rains, it snows, revelation begins, people still want their paper. You better be ready to deliver in anything.

2. If your told to be at the depot at 5:00 am and a press breaks down or a baseball game runs late on the west coast, you may run a couple of hours later then you planned.

3. Your depot manager want the job done and done right. If you don't do it he has to. Undelivered papers, wet papers, that's on you, (and ypur pay)

4. Look out for the police. They really don't care if your delivering the news or if your late for your real job. Getting caught on the left side of the road is going to cost you a ticket that worth a week's pay. - (Don't say you won't pull onto the left side of the road. You will.)

All said if you can put up with minor aggrivation it's an easy way to make extra bucks. It helps if you like to drive.

Newspaper delivery job?

im thinking about it but not sure, does anyone have any experience with it?

btw: im in an area that never snows, rarely rains, almost always is warm. i like being up before the sun and sleeping during the day. would it be the right kinda thing for me?

You need to contact tne newspaper companies directly. Depending on where you are and what papers are around you can search for a website or phone number for each.

I'd guess pay is about minimum wage.
Reply:1500 a month for one rout i suggest that you talk to the distribution department of your local paper and ask if there are any openings for a route that delivers to condos and or apartments this way all of your work is on foot and you do not wast the gas driving all morning if none are open give the manager your information and tell them to call if any openings arise.

Next time you see one of those vans, read the name, look em up in the phone book, go there, and apply for a job as a delivery driver. Or just look up a courier service and go apply there; you will deliver, pick up, all sorts of driving. As long as your driving record is pretty clean you shouldn't have too many issues.
Reply:do you have a car or a motorbike?

most delivery jobs will require you to have you own transport aswell as the licence. if you dont have your own transport you may struggle.

loads of non-chain take-away places (like chinese, pizza n curry places) need delivery drivers. they advertise in the shop window mainly. just look around for them.
Reply:I work for a courier firm all you need to do is go on the website and follow the links but to be honest with you at the minute all of our drivers have nearly gone and we employ lifestyle couriers now whcih we bring on from a driving firm not sure the name of it but I would like to do this sort of job to.
Reply:you have to be quick when your going to deliver something

don't forget to smile in front of your customers

be friendly and this will make them trust you more and more

don't make any action if the costumers were in bad mood or if they shoot on you try always to be calm because later they will regret.
Reply:I'm with Joe on this one. I mean, you are setting the bar pretty low for yourself. Who knows, maybe, one day you will aspire to clean hotel rooms. Good luck. Say, you think you can get a fresh pizza to me? There's an extra five in it for you if you can get it to me in under ten minutes.
Reply:if you want to get in with fedex you have to work in the wharehouses for at least 6 months then apply. unless you have previous experience driving. you need a clean driving record of at least 2-3 years. no tickets no ccidents no dui nothing. i think thats all you need. if theres more im sure someone will offer some guidance. good luck
Reply:Can't you have any bigger aspirations than this?

I suppose, though, if you started your own business doing it, it could go places.
Reply:search for delivery firms online and maybe take down numbers to ring for vacancies

Pizza delivery job??

I'm considering getting a job as a pizza delivery guy.. but I have one question. How do you know where all the houses are that you have to drive to?? It's pretty much impossible to know every street in your town.

How does this work?
Pizza delivery job??
Well, it does help if you're familiar with the town you'll be delivering in, but its not necessary. The store will have maps (even though you might want to buy one to keep in your car) and the current employees who are familiar with the streets will help you find places. If you get lost on a delivery, you just call the customer and say that you're having a hard time finding their place and ask them for directions. I found that getting lost actually helps- having a hard time finding an address helps burn it into your memory, so you'll never forget where it is!

And believe me- after you deliver long enough, you really do know where every single street in your delivery area is!!
Reply:It's like driving a taxi, you need to know how to get places
Reply:I'm guessin' you might want to invest in a map of your town.

A good job no delivery boy, babysitting, no dog crap a real good job a 14 year old can get?

well, it depends on where you live. you can help out on a farm. Here in the midwest, there is LOTS of work on farms available. Otherwise, mowing, or painting, just odd jobs that people have around the house. There isn't much that you can do until you turn 16.
A good job no delivery boy, babysitting, no dog crap a real good job a 14 year old can get?
I dont think anyone can legally employ a 14 year old child.

But if you can be employed...

delivery boy can be a LOT of fun when you're young, you should seriously consider giving it a go.

babysitting sucks, you dont want to get involved in that.

no dog crap? well, you should consider going to a vets office to clean out cages. as vets are highly trained and highly paid professionals, this actually seems like one of your best options. you could potentially get all of the local vets as clients, even, and create a monopoly on pet enclosure care - get your little friends to work for you.

i'm more than twice your age. to me, a real good job pays $120,000 - $180,000 a year. I dont know what your basis for judgement on that is.

I know the work is 7 days per week, but what happens if your sick? or your car breaks down? Can you take a vacation? Do you have to prep the newspaper or is it alredey bagged and redey to deliver? $1200 part-time sounds decent. Thoughts?

The newspaper is pre-preped and it depends on who you deliver for to see if you can get sick days/ vacations.

Reply:i am sure you could. point is: do not eat the pizzas ;) lol
Reply:Just ask around at fast food places that deliver, i suppose it depends on the employer.
Reply:I work at Pizza Hut and you would not be hired as a driver unless you had a car where I work. There are no bikes you could use at mine.
Reply:ask around get a phone book and look up some pizza places
Reply:Contact Pizza Hut and ask them your options. xox
Reply:first of all, being a delivery guy its a dangerous job. and if you used your own car (wish you don't have) you'd be wasting money on the gas. and i'm sure your salary wont cover it. but the bikes could work. but watch all the traffic coming at you. and what is a CBT? ask a pizza place for a job opening.

Deduct Tax - Delivery Job?

How can I keep track of my mileage?

In one forum tell that to keep track of mileage, how?

This is first time I work. So, I will claim tax next year. So, I need to prepare ahead of time.

How about receipt for maintain car? Like oil change, change tire, etc.

I use my own car.
Deduct Tax - Delivery Job?
You track mileage by writing down beginning and ending numbers when you work. Most pizza places ( I used to deliver) give you an extra fee that is supposed to cover mileage. You should track your mileage then see what percentage of your miles is business and what percentage is personal. You can deduct the standard per mile minus the fee your company gives you or the actual costs times the business percentage minus what your company gives you. In California if you claim to use a car for delivery driving you pay over 2k for insurance so make sure you really want to claim it. You will also have to track your tips also. The IRS knows that drivers get tips so you will have to report those as wages.

I have a pizza delivery job but...?

I'm horribly afraid of dogs! I think I should call the house ahead of time to ask if they have a dog and warn them that I'm afraid but my mom says thats a terrible idea and an easy way to get fired. What should I do? I dont think its a problem to call ahead.
I have a pizza delivery job but...?
I think you should tell them that you are worried about dogs. Anyone hungry for pizza can put their dog in a bedroom for 2 minutes. Tell them.
Reply:I agree with your mom - that is not a good idea. People don't let their dogs near the delivery people anyway. When a deliveryman comes to my house, I either put my dog in another room or hold her back while I step outside. They won't let their dog at you, don't worry. It might even help you to get used to them and not be so afraid.

What jobs can I do to work in a delivery room with babies?

I'm looking for a job that doesn't require 4 years of school.I have no money,no car,no job,no parents and right now I want to persue a carreer that actually helps people and that doesnt involve sales and qotas. I want to work in a hospital and help with the mothers delivery or perhaps a job that prepares women for pregnancy and birth. what jobs are there?what kind of schools should i look for? also please send me links of info to help me find my future carrer!
What jobs can I do to work in a delivery room with babies?
There are all kinds of different jobs you can get working in hospitals...if you don't want to have to go to school long enough to be an LPN or RN, you could get a CNA, (certified nurse's assistant) or a PCT (patient care tech) certificate and apply at your local hospital. You may or may not immediately get the ob floor, but after 90 days you can ask to be transferred to that department as soon as there's an opening. But if you really want to be hands on with labor and delivery, I'd would advise you to apply for a Pell Grant and the Stafford Loan, and commit to going to school for LPN or RN. They are in high demand and you can pretty much choose what area you want to go into. Good luck!
Reply:midwife requires 3 years

good luck
Reply:Look into becoming an LPN- but keep in mind that you might not get to work in OB right away.

If you're set on working with babies, you might want to become a doula.

Reply:you can help midwifes but you will NEED a car i think it's just job shadowing for 2 years also you can do health care aid you will have to have ALL your shots and your CPR to work in a hospital unless your like housekeeping staff...

News paper delivery job ?
I dont think it is worth it. I would work at like a restaurant as a waiter.
Reply:As a part time job did you look into UPS, FedEx, DHL to work in their warehouses?

I know here in Phoenix FedEx has 3 hour shifts at anytime night or day for $10.50 an hour. 5 days a week. If you want a second job.
Reply:with the way gas prices are i would quit now before they get any higher you are just waisting your gas and not getting paid enough.

How good a job is pizza delivery?????

Just wondering.. :D
How good a job is pizza delivery?????
it's a VERY good job for some extra cash on the side, but depends on what ur condition is.

if u have a decent job that makes u fair amount of money during the day time, its only small amount of cash on the side, i'd suggest not do pizza, just cut down on ur spending a little because the pay is kinna low when u compare to gas price.

if u are studying during the day, and need extra cash, it's pretty good to do 3 nights a week, NEVER do 5-6 nights a week when ur boss ask u to do it, u will ****** up ur study and life.

consider the rise of gas price, the job pay is low, but good thing is most the time u don't get taxed for that, so if u are bored every night, good idead to do 3 nights per week instead of wasting ur time and money for drinks or whatever u do when ur bored.

the job is NOT stressful, considering there are not many other evening jobs out there except the hospitality industry, and as driver u are the least stressful in there, because u don't need to deal with waves of customers that comes into the shop, most the time u are on the road, crusing in ur own car and listen to ur cool music and having a smoke. pretty relaxing.

most customers are nice, there are some bad customers but don't worry u will not get murdered, at least for me, im in australia, and as the petrol price going up, most customers will give tip, also, negociate with ur boss, but most bosses pay extra dollar for each delivery u do, which should cover the fuel.

if u are working at local pizza shops, most the bosses will ask u to help out in shop duty when ur not on the road, which is ok, i personally enjoy cutting up food, filling up fridge and ****, but remember, if ur boss would ever ask u to wash the dishes, DON"T take the job, make sure that shop has dedicated dish-washing kitchen hand, or else u'll just quit the job in few days.

as for ur car, it is pretty BAD for ur car because u constantly turn on and off ur engine, always in city roads, but most modern cars can handle it, just make sure u service ur car properly, if ur driving a early 1980's car, it may not be a good idea. i would suggest at least 1990+ fuel injection, crabie cars won't do the job. take GOOD care of ur car, don't act like kids and rev to 6---rmp every street, study the local roads so u don't get lost easy. also, if u are doing pizza delivery at local area when u know the roads very well, it's really easy, or else it may take few weeks for u to get used to the roads.

i love doing house delivery which is fair distance away from shop so i have time for a smoke, if u are sending to apartments/units, usually u will NOT get a parking nearby, just park on the foot-path, not other's driveway, leave ur parking lights on, or even blinker/harzard light, so people will not run into it when it's dark and they drunk, and u should never get booked from cops.

so in conclusion, if u really need some extra cash but don't want the stress when ur boss always around u, don't like to be 'standing' for 5 hours like the bar tenders are, and u don't mind the small income, it's a good job. and REMEMBER, STOP taking free pizzas when ur boss offers u, u will get FAT! take vegetarian pasta, and drink water, not coke. and personally, for myself i think pizza is the BEST job u can do in evening, unless u have some kind of degree to be an evening doctor or teacher, if u get to choose between working behind the bar, waiter, or any job that requires 5 hours of 'standing', i'd take pizza delivery, i also worked at an evening call-center before... 4pm-9pm, pretty stressful, coz u have to sit on one place all time make ur *** grow fat, always standing make ur feet/ankle get tired. yeah.. so trust me it's good, it's a no-stress job once u know the local roads well, keeps ur body moving but no heavy labour that drains ur energy.

only disadvantage is the low income due to gas price and ware-n-tear for ur car.

oh and on top of that, i used to do that job when i was younger, at 20, there are always hot hot girls working at my pizza shop, and they are nice, u can sometimes meet some friends, but as u are a girl, just do ur job and don't dress too sexy to avoid unwanted attention/conversation from random guys. outside the shop.

i am not sure about the price of pizza and pays in USA, but over here in australia, 2 years back im getting $12 per hour plus $1 per delivery, but the pizzas sells for $12-$20 each. i never work in stores like pizza hut/dominos, coz i hate the ******* uniform and environment, if u work for local pizza shops, it's much better and more friendly.
Reply:It used to be a pretty good part time job. Gas prices have really hurt delivery drivers. Gas prices have gone up 4X in recent years, but most people don't tip accordingly. Pizza places can't afford to pay drivers enough to compensate for the rising gas prices. Drivers pay for their own gas. Stores can't afford to sell a pizza for $10 and then pay the driver $6/hr plus $2 per delivery. They would go broke. The economy has hurt too. Alot of people won't tip because they say money is too hard to come by now. Basically gas prices keep going up and tips keep going down. I think it is a dying service that might not be around much longer.

It's not a very good job right now. Drivers get cussed out several times a night for other peoples mistakes. Plus drivers are the 3rd most likely to be murdered on the job. The US government considers pizza delivery a hazardous job.
Reply:It is very high-stress (depending on the company you work for of course) but the tips can make it worth it, on a good day.

If you live in a city that you know very well, like, you can get anywhere from anywhere quickly, then this is the job for you!

I couldn't do it because I thought I knew the place I'd grown up in very well but in fact I did not. Not well enough to find houses off of obscure backwoods roads in less than 15 minutes!

Or you can invest in a GPS unit, if they allow that.

Either way, try to apply for the larger companies like Pizza Hut and Dominoes if you do. The larger the company, the more stores they'll have in a city and the less territory you'll have to cover in deliveries. You'll get more deliveries in a smaller area and that'll increase your chances of getting lots of tips!
Reply:well how good is a pizza delivery job?

the hours? you can make them fit your schedule

the pay? houirly , like $6 per hour + tips, with tips your wages will be nearly double your pay

but, the wear and tear you put through your car is rough.

either have a good running car, and make sure to keep it that way, or you'll be having to get another car with in a year: of course it depends on how hard you drive it.
Reply:You should find someone who does this type of work and ask them. I would be the first to tell you that no matter what I or we say, the real truth lies with someone who does the job!

How much do a Labor and Delivery nurse make, and is it a good job?

I'm studying to be a midwife. I love it so far and everyone I speak to who works in this field is really passionate about it. As to how much you make, that can vary depending on where in the world you work, how high up the ladder you are, etc. From what I've seen, there are opportunities for really good pay. If it's what your interested in, maybe hire out some books from the library or google 'day in the life of a labour nurse/midwife/etc' Good luck!

Pizza delivery is it a good job?

With gas prices right now, is pizza delivery a good job? I only want to work for a month before school starts. and how hard is it? i dont know street names that well. Do you keep tips seperate or do you seperate it at the end of the shift. Also my car is not completly paid for yet.
Pizza delivery is it a good job?
You may find it very difficult to find a job for only a month. That would be your first obstacle.

Most people assume the delivery charge is a forced tip and because of this, tipping has gone down hill fast. From my experience, tips are not shared, what you earn is what you keep.

The added cost of insurance is also a factor. Generally the customers are pleasant, unless they have been waiting a long time or their pizza is cold, not necessarily always the drivers fault, but they will take it out on you. Not knowing streets very well will slow your delivery time. You will learn the streets, but probably not well enough in only a month.
Reply:If you are using your own car, you will have to put additional insurance on it to be covered for an accident, while working.

You need to know the addresses good, or be really handy with a map.

Tips always depend on the customer, some tip, some don't.

If your pizza company has a delivery charge, customers might not tip you.
Reply:In this day and age...it could be dangerous. Many get robbed. It is not a hard job. It is not a great job either-but it can be fun if you like driving around and the smell of pizza. Gas has come down quite a bit. Most places you keep your tips others pool the drivers and you split. You will learn the roads quickly..You put yourself at risk driving all the time or an accident or traffic ticket. I would try to get the job making the pizza instead.
Reply:it is if you want to live in a teeny apartment and live on cereal- you don't get paid alot

Pizza delivery for a part-time job for a college kid?

What do you think about pizza delivery? I'm going to be a junior in college next semester and it seems like a decent job to do this summer. I'm going to summer-school so the only jobs I would be able to work would be evening jobs. Is there anything that sucks doing pizza delivery?

It's a franchise store. My roommate works there right now. It's 1 mile down the road from our place. He makes pretty good. It's in a real rich neighborhood(million dollar houses) so he gets decent tips from some people but some are still stingy($1, lol). You think it'll be good?
Pizza delivery for a part-time job for a college kid?
Heck yea, You'll have alot of tip money
Reply:For some extra money you will do well, do not, I repeat, do not deliver chinese food are any other food besides pizza. Pizza places are much busier and the customers usually tip more. For more tips, take your time counting the change, if it is over 5 dollars change, still count out the ones. People become impatient and will tell you to keep the change more often than not.........Good luck

What available jobs are there for delivery people?

my dad needs a job cuz he has to quit cuz they made him plzz respond
What available jobs are there for delivery people?
Go to craiglist.com and you will find jobs that you need
Reply:all of the above answers were good but they left out one major thing . Have dad post signs in the super market and run a small ad in the business services of your local newspaper stating man for delivery in the local area and he can sharge them accordingly and make all the money himself . He must have experience so he might be good at it and he can work as long and hard as he wants or set more leisurely hours !!!!!!!
Reply:Have him pick up a "Reader" newspaper. It's free and usually at the door's of some restaurants. I know "Leona's" restaurants usually have them at the door. He just has to walk in the door and grab one. They have lots of 'help wanted' ads in there. Have him go through the Yellow Pages under 'Delivery Services" and start making phone calls. Have him stop in local stores...Walgreens, CVS, Dominick's ....talk to a Manager and ask what local delivery companies deliver to them. Have him contact those local delivery companies.

Also have him contact Public Aid so he can get some assitance with food and medical. He can also ask them about delivery jobs there.

I wish your Dad good luck, Sweetie.
Reply:best one's are delivery of blood and related items, for hospitals.
Reply:pizza

UPS

Best Buy or any major appliance store that delivers things to the consumer.

Most places just walk in and ask if they need a delivery person. You don't need an add in the paper to find a job opening. Most jobs don't get posted because it's a word of mouth.

Good Luck to your dad.

Does anyone know of a delivery job that does not need a CDL license and you go home every night?

I guess I am looking for a job like USPS delivery or something but exactly what I want is any job where I work like a normal daytime 8 hour shift (like 6-2 or 7-3...9-5) where my primary job is driving. Does anyone know of a job like that and know how to get into that job?
Does anyone know of a delivery job that does not need a CDL license and you go home every night?
Most of the major shipping companies will require a CDL in order to deliver. Almost all of their trucks fall under "Interstate Commerce" and have a GVWR of over 28000 pounds, and therefore require at least a class B. Of course there are exceptions.

Try food delivery (wholesale distributers, not pizza guy), furnature delivery, lumber yards, car parts suppliers, maybe tow truck driver?

My wife works as a driver for a hospital- shuttling patients from doctor to nursing home, and back. Takes her all over. Home everynight, on the road by day. Only works 1 weekend every 6 weeks or so, and still home weekend nights.
Reply:Try DHL , www.dhl.com. You do not have to have a cdl only a vaild driver's license and a good decent driving record. or Fedex.com.

Please help me find a paper delivery job.

i am 13 and live in fishers, indiana. Are there any newspapers that even let kids deliver newspapers on bikes anymore?
Please help me find a paper delivery job.
dear short person.....

Ok, those are only in small neighborhoods,

in australia, there are paperboys, everywhere, but thats only because australia is bicycle friendly, they have high tax and the gov doesnt know what to use it on, so they have a sidewalk at EVERYSINGLE (no lie) part of the road.

America on the other hand, is not ped.friendly you will not be able to find that job, esp in such a rich neighborhood. (btw its on the news! fishers is ranked 10 in top places to live on the counrty!) they have a mailman. However, the fishers monthly magazine is distributed by a person in a normal car, but its probably someone in the community board. Chances are, you will not be able to do that. I have contacted the board before. I contacted them about the fireworks show on july 4th, this year. it is very poorly managed, i called like 4 people and no1 answered their phone, until sum1 did.

Too bad in america there are few jobs which you can do which involves physical activity,

So basically, you cant do it. srry.

I'am 13 years old and I'am looking for a newspaper delivery boy job.Can you tell me how can i find it PLEASE!?

Is it harder for new nurses to get a job in Labor and Delivery? 10 points?

Hi I am a senior in high school and I would like to be a labor and delivery nurse. I am just wondering would it be hard to find a job in that position when you are a new grad? Please and thank you for those who answered
Is it harder for new nurses to get a job in Labor and Delivery? 10 points?
When you are a new grad from nursing school, yes, it is harder to get a job in L%26amp;D. Not impossible, but definitely harder. They prefer that you have at least six months to a year of experience working in a regular hospital medical / surgical unit to build a firm foundation of nursing skills which will serve you well in just about any area, including L%26amp;D. L%26amp;D can be a very fast-paced environment where things can turn critical without notice, and you need to have a good knowledge of how things work, be quick on your feet with decision making, be good at performing assessments, etc.

I would strongly recommend trying to get a summer nursing internship, which is usually offered to nursing students the summer before their final year in school. See if you can get into an OB setting, this would be valuable experience which could get your foot in the door and could get you hired right away as a new graduate. But internships are hard to get. . . be a great student, keep your grades up, be a leader and do volunteer work and get involved with clubs and organizations at your school which demonstrate that you are a leader, a star.

Good luck!
Reply:Well one thing you could do would be to go to your local school counselor and ask them or to your local hospital and ask them.

I know a nurse who is called a traveling nurse, she goes to where the need is rather then looking for it on her own. Hospitals ask for her. This might be an idea for you, gets you out of the house at least...

Pizza Delivery job in a porsche?

I was thinking about getting a job at papa johns or pizza hut delivering pizza, but heres the twist.. i drive a porsche, so i dont know what requirements there are or anything so can someone just give me some general info and what i should know
Pizza Delivery job in a porsche?
If you can afford a Porche you don't need a cheap paying delivery job, but since you asked they do not care what you drive as long as you have insurance. They will not be responsible for any damage sustained while on the job.
Reply:I delivered for Dominoes for a few years. Problems: Severe wear and tear on car, gas usage (now its getting expensive again), mileage, tire wear and replacement, possible accidents (your insurance will be raised also if you have any claims), not getting tipped (stiffed), getting robbed, personal injury, the list goes on. Now, the money is comparable to a normal FF restaurant job, where you can keep your nice Porsche in one piece, make a buck, and work inside where it is safer. Your choice! Good luck.
Reply:I assume its a 944 or 924 but either way you'll put considerable wear on your car delivering pizza. You should already know the parts are quite expensive and high miles on a Porsche is hard to resell. You'd be better off finding a $300 dollar civic and paying for the extra insurance on another car.
Reply:I think you can drive whatever you want to deliver pizza, but keep in mind that pizza delivery, especially full-time, is really, really hard on the vehicle you're using. I'd rethink using a car that expensive for a job that will end up running it into the ground.
Reply:That's pretty funny. The pizza delivery people I've had drive all different kinds of cars--they are usually old Buicks and Fords or little rice burners. I think the only requirement is that they are reliable--that is, you won't call out because your car won't start.
Reply:Although that would be sweet to see a pizza delivery guy in a porsche, I would be afraid of the pizza in the car. Like getting the grease on your seats, or the pizza falling and staining your car. But hell if you want to, by all means go ahead
Reply:roflmao omg man that would be sick a porsche dropping off my pizza to me and my buddies in our run down shack of a house. wouldn't do it though imagine how much of a piss off it would be...

"hey baby like my car?"

"yeah but it smells like burnt cheese and old pepperoni"
Reply:As long as the pizza is delivered it doesn't matter what car you drive. Believe me, if the pizza ain't there you won't have the money to even pay for the car you currently drive!
Reply:The people will see what you are driving when you pull up to their house, and probably won't think you need a tip. So you will be putting alot of wear and tear for basically what your hourly rate is.
Reply:I don't understand how you can afford a porsche and need "small change" like that. The policy depends on each pizza franchise, so go ask them directly. ya.
Reply:You drive a Porsche, and you're going to deliver pizza??? Is that to pay off the debt from it or something??
Reply:you could give me your porsche and you can have my honda... problem solved!

How much does a mail delivery, distribution and retail job pays for the united states post office?
Each job description is different and you do need to take an exam and score at least 70%. The pay, I understand is not great, but their benefits are, and if you stay there long enough, a good retirement package.

That's the reason why most people would want to work there.

Is there any nurse who works in labor and delivery who can answer this question: What is this job called?

This nursery job requires the person just to watch over and take care of the baby overnight when the mother needs sleep. I'm really not sure if thats all they do. If thats not all then what else do they do? I just want to know what is this job called and what would I have to do to start working in this job? (is it getting a degree?, job experience starting from where? I think it is going to school what would the major be called if it is?)
Is there any nurse who works in labor and delivery who can answer this question: What is this job called?
You would need a nursing license to have that job.

The title varies depending on the certifications they have, but they are RNs (Registered Nurses), LPNs (Licensed Practical Nurses), Pediatric Nurses (Nurses with a specialty in Pediatrics), Neonatal Nurses and a variety of others.

They are the nurses that work the night shift. Their job is the same as the nurses that are in the nursery during the day. Duties might include taking the babies temperature, changing diapers, suctioning airways, weighing, feeding, etc.

They also take the babies back and forth to the mother at her demand, answer any questions the mother might have, assist with getting baby latched on when mother is breastfeeding if she needs help, etc.

Most mothers (the ones I know of, anyway) keep their babies in the room with them in this day and age. Some might send the baby to the nursery, but most do not. Some hospitals are even doing away with nurseries for healthy babies! In that case, the baby nurse would do all of her tasks in the mother's room.

You would major in nursing. The good thing is that it is a field that is in high demand, and many hospitals will pay your student loans if you sign a contract with them.

BTW, some hospitals have a large nursery that is divided for healthy infants and those in Intensive Care, but most have separate nurseries for NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care) because there is a lot more involved.
Reply:They are nurses or CNAs. You can become a CNA (certified nursing assistant) by taking a class and passing the test. Usually the class lasts anywhere from a few weeks to six months and is held at your local technical college. To be a nurse you can either get your associates degree in two to three years or you can go to a four year school to become an RN. Other responsibilities they have according to which job they are doing are giving meds if needed, taking vitals when needed and making sure the babies are safe and sound.
Reply:Uh I don't know where you live but in most places they don't take healthy babies away from their mothers. Most hospitals do not even have nurseries anymore.

--------

Becky S,

Really where you live all healthy babies go to the NICU overnight? So every hospital is a level III?

Some hospitals where I live do not even have a NICU, some only have a level two nursery and some have no nursery at all.

And people wonder why breastfeeding rates are so low. Between epidurals, inductions, c-sections, supplemental feeds, pacifiers, not rooming in, separating baby and mom immediately after birth for weight/bath, bathing the baby, hats, etc its a surprise anyone succeeds.
Reply:Wow, that last person couldn't be more wrong.

In the hospitals I've worked in, the job is NICU (said nic-you) nurse.

Or Nursery Nurse. It is a degreed position with additional training because they take care of the sick babies as well as healthy ones. The first step is a nursing degree. Everywhere I've worked required an RN, not an LPN.

Good luck with that!
Reply:Well at first it came to mind night doulas but they go to your house and help out with a newborn overnight in this case when the mother needs sleep... but not at the hospital, the baby is with you all the time. If it's not your baby is then in the NICU so not in the hospital..
