How good a job is pizza delivery?????

Just wondering.. :D
How good a job is pizza delivery?????
it's a VERY good job for some extra cash on the side, but depends on what ur condition is.

if u have a decent job that makes u fair amount of money during the day time, its only small amount of cash on the side, i'd suggest not do pizza, just cut down on ur spending a little because the pay is kinna low when u compare to gas price.

if u are studying during the day, and need extra cash, it's pretty good to do 3 nights a week, NEVER do 5-6 nights a week when ur boss ask u to do it, u will ****** up ur study and life.

consider the rise of gas price, the job pay is low, but good thing is most the time u don't get taxed for that, so if u are bored every night, good idead to do 3 nights per week instead of wasting ur time and money for drinks or whatever u do when ur bored.

the job is NOT stressful, considering there are not many other evening jobs out there except the hospitality industry, and as driver u are the least stressful in there, because u don't need to deal with waves of customers that comes into the shop, most the time u are on the road, crusing in ur own car and listen to ur cool music and having a smoke. pretty relaxing.

most customers are nice, there are some bad customers but don't worry u will not get murdered, at least for me, im in australia, and as the petrol price going up, most customers will give tip, also, negociate with ur boss, but most bosses pay extra dollar for each delivery u do, which should cover the fuel.

if u are working at local pizza shops, most the bosses will ask u to help out in shop duty when ur not on the road, which is ok, i personally enjoy cutting up food, filling up fridge and ****, but remember, if ur boss would ever ask u to wash the dishes, DON"T take the job, make sure that shop has dedicated dish-washing kitchen hand, or else u'll just quit the job in few days.

as for ur car, it is pretty BAD for ur car because u constantly turn on and off ur engine, always in city roads, but most modern cars can handle it, just make sure u service ur car properly, if ur driving a early 1980's car, it may not be a good idea. i would suggest at least 1990+ fuel injection, crabie cars won't do the job. take GOOD care of ur car, don't act like kids and rev to 6---rmp every street, study the local roads so u don't get lost easy. also, if u are doing pizza delivery at local area when u know the roads very well, it's really easy, or else it may take few weeks for u to get used to the roads.

i love doing house delivery which is fair distance away from shop so i have time for a smoke, if u are sending to apartments/units, usually u will NOT get a parking nearby, just park on the foot-path, not other's driveway, leave ur parking lights on, or even blinker/harzard light, so people will not run into it when it's dark and they drunk, and u should never get booked from cops.

so in conclusion, if u really need some extra cash but don't want the stress when ur boss always around u, don't like to be 'standing' for 5 hours like the bar tenders are, and u don't mind the small income, it's a good job. and REMEMBER, STOP taking free pizzas when ur boss offers u, u will get FAT! take vegetarian pasta, and drink water, not coke. and personally, for myself i think pizza is the BEST job u can do in evening, unless u have some kind of degree to be an evening doctor or teacher, if u get to choose between working behind the bar, waiter, or any job that requires 5 hours of 'standing', i'd take pizza delivery, i also worked at an evening call-center before... 4pm-9pm, pretty stressful, coz u have to sit on one place all time make ur *** grow fat, always standing make ur feet/ankle get tired. yeah.. so trust me it's good, it's a no-stress job once u know the local roads well, keeps ur body moving but no heavy labour that drains ur energy.

only disadvantage is the low income due to gas price and ware-n-tear for ur car.

oh and on top of that, i used to do that job when i was younger, at 20, there are always hot hot girls working at my pizza shop, and they are nice, u can sometimes meet some friends, but as u are a girl, just do ur job and don't dress too sexy to avoid unwanted attention/conversation from random guys. outside the shop.

i am not sure about the price of pizza and pays in USA, but over here in australia, 2 years back im getting $12 per hour plus $1 per delivery, but the pizzas sells for $12-$20 each. i never work in stores like pizza hut/dominos, coz i hate the ******* uniform and environment, if u work for local pizza shops, it's much better and more friendly.
Reply:It used to be a pretty good part time job. Gas prices have really hurt delivery drivers. Gas prices have gone up 4X in recent years, but most people don't tip accordingly. Pizza places can't afford to pay drivers enough to compensate for the rising gas prices. Drivers pay for their own gas. Stores can't afford to sell a pizza for $10 and then pay the driver $6/hr plus $2 per delivery. They would go broke. The economy has hurt too. Alot of people won't tip because they say money is too hard to come by now. Basically gas prices keep going up and tips keep going down. I think it is a dying service that might not be around much longer.

It's not a very good job right now. Drivers get cussed out several times a night for other peoples mistakes. Plus drivers are the 3rd most likely to be murdered on the job. The US government considers pizza delivery a hazardous job.
Reply:It is very high-stress (depending on the company you work for of course) but the tips can make it worth it, on a good day.

If you live in a city that you know very well, like, you can get anywhere from anywhere quickly, then this is the job for you!

I couldn't do it because I thought I knew the place I'd grown up in very well but in fact I did not. Not well enough to find houses off of obscure backwoods roads in less than 15 minutes!

Or you can invest in a GPS unit, if they allow that.

Either way, try to apply for the larger companies like Pizza Hut and Dominoes if you do. The larger the company, the more stores they'll have in a city and the less territory you'll have to cover in deliveries. You'll get more deliveries in a smaller area and that'll increase your chances of getting lots of tips!
Reply:well how good is a pizza delivery job?

the hours? you can make them fit your schedule

the pay? houirly , like $6 per hour + tips, with tips your wages will be nearly double your pay

but, the wear and tear you put through your car is rough.

either have a good running car, and make sure to keep it that way, or you'll be having to get another car with in a year: of course it depends on how hard you drive it.
Reply:You should find someone who does this type of work and ask them. I would be the first to tell you that no matter what I or we say, the real truth lies with someone who does the job!
Reply:not at all
