Pizza delivery for a part-time job for a college kid?

What do you think about pizza delivery? I'm going to be a junior in college next semester and it seems like a decent job to do this summer. I'm going to summer-school so the only jobs I would be able to work would be evening jobs. Is there anything that sucks doing pizza delivery?

It's a franchise store. My roommate works there right now. It's 1 mile down the road from our place. He makes pretty good. It's in a real rich neighborhood(million dollar houses) so he gets decent tips from some people but some are still stingy($1, lol). You think it'll be good?

i started delivering in college too man. it was just for some extra cash, or so i thought. it got kind of addicting. i was like you, said it wouldn't last that long, just through college. i never saw myself doing it for a living.

i just had my 36th birthday and i'm still delivering pizzas. started dating the girl that worked behind the counter and we've been married for 10+ years now. i now deliver pizzas to kids of people i use to deliver to in college.

don't get sucked in. it will grab you and pull you under. i was a finance major ready to make 6 figures a year. now i am lucky if the Precourt's on 45th ave leave me $3 dollars when I bring them their 2 pepps and 1-diet coke 2 liter.
Reply:people not tipping might suck but ive heard some good stories...oh and it could be dangerous!
Reply:People rob your ***.
Reply:I delivered for a couple years. Easiest, nest job ever.

Make at least 12-15 dollars an hour.

Make sure they pay for gas, and make sure you don't care about your car.

DElivering pizzas will kill your car

I can't tell you how man naked chicks I saw while delivering...GOOD STUFF
Reply:Without question the largest complaint I have heard about pizza delivery is that companies don't reimburse for the wear and tear to your vehicle. There are also heartless people that don't even believe in tipping pizza deliverers. try to get on part time in a restaurant with killer food and a long wait on the weekends. the tips can be very lucrative, and your car sits in the parking lot the whole time.
Reply:that,s a good age to do it.
Reply:Since you'd be working with your roommate and he thinks it's ok, then I'd say it would be good.
Reply:tips are good in rich areas....hubby does this on wkends moonlighting and it is good....know the streets and youre ok

but good mgr is needed...
Reply:Don't do it. It can have it's ups and downs, but what do you even want to bother with downs?

The wear and tear on a car.. it's frustrating. Not to mention gas being through the roof nowadays.

If this was 2001 on the other hand, you might make/save some easy $.
Reply:lol you could always try it out and see if it works :)
Reply:I believe it would be a good job for you. Smile be friendly and you should do well enough. Besides, its a good way to meet people!

Reply:Yo, it's a good gig. I did it when I was in college. A couple of tips:

1. Always carry a flashlight.

2. Always carry a Mapsco.

3. Make sure you have a mobile phone.

4. Get a good radar detector. Cops love to give delivery drivers tickets!

and last but not least...to get the maximum tip...

Before each shift make about 5-10 "tip" dollars.

What is a tip dollar?

Take any dollar, and wrinkle it up. Dip it in grease. Grind dirt into it. Tear it apart and tape it back together with electric tape. Get it as DIRTY AND RATTY LOOKING as possible. Then when you have to give people change, always include two or three "tip" dollars. They will always get a disgusted look (usually asking "Where did you get THIS money?") and hand it back to you. If they ask for different money, just tell them you don't have any. Say you only carry $20 and that those are the only ones that you have.

It works every time! Even cheap b*stards hate accepting that filthy money. Plus you can turn around and use the same "tip" dollars on your next delivery. I went from averaging $25 a night cash to making at least $100 using this method.

Reply:Any job is good when your making tips. The only thing is the gas.......you will be using alot of it. But if you don't mind driving i think it is a very practical job being you are going to be in college.
Reply:Hie Jason. Well to me doing a pizza delivery during semester break it is something good for you, because during the morning and afternoon going for summer classes and evening doing job is something very good. Because from this way you can earn some pocket money for yourself and also you don't have to burden your parents much. Adeliver job is always a very pleasent job for you to do infanct every job is a very pleasent job, is just that how you take it that's all. When you are getting tips from the customer this is something aside from your salary. Well after I left school I started to work in a fast food restaurant whereby it is a drive thru restaurant and I have learn something on how to attract the customer wo loves to come and see me to just by the food and give me tips. My way was when ever you deliver a pizza or food you just wish them and also greet them after paying like '' thank you sir/mam and have a nice day'' when I started to used this particular sentence it really work for me and the customer give tips which my minimum was RM 1.00 and the highest I got was RM 40 from the customer, so although you get $ 1.00 or any amount which the customer gives just take it happily and jsut say those sentence. Try this and hope it might help you.............

ALL THE BEST.............
Reply:its a good job. you get fed, and paid, plus tips. though the hours are late, and some of the people you may encounter might be somewhat scary. always take something to protect yourself (even a can of hairspray will be enough)
