There are all kinds of different jobs you can get working in hospitals...if you don't want to have to go to school long enough to be an LPN or RN, you could get a CNA, (certified nurse's assistant) or a PCT (patient care tech) certificate and apply at your local hospital. You may or may not immediately get the ob floor, but after 90 days you can ask to be transferred to that department as soon as there's an opening. But if you really want to be hands on with labor and delivery, I'd would advise you to apply for a Pell Grant and the Stafford Loan, and commit to going to school for LPN or RN. They are in high demand and you can pretty much choose what area you want to go into. Good luck!
Reply:midwife requires 3 years

good luck
Reply:Look into becoming an LPN- but keep in mind that you might not get to work in OB right away.

If you're set on working with babies, you might want to become a doula.
